The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Abena Osei-Asare, is confident that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign in the Krobo area of the Eastern Region has positively impacted the party's electoral prospects ahead of the general elections.
The minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, told journalists that the people in the area have embraced the NPP flagbearer's campaign messages. She would not be surprised if the party wins seats in the area, which has been dominated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the Fourth Republic.
Except for the Upper Manya Krobo constituency, which the NPP won in 2016, the NDC has consistently emerged victorious in the Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo constituencies.
However, the minister, who joined Dr. Bawumia's campaign in the area, believes the NPP has a chance of capturing all 33 parliamentary seats, including the three in Krobo.

"We have only won the Upper Many Krobo seat in 2016 and I believe it is time to win the rest of the seats here. I am sure our flagbeareer's visit will change the mindset of the people to vote for the NPP".
"We have targeted more seats including that of Asuogyaman and so when we are successful at achieving that feat, it would mean that the party would have won all the 33 seats in the Eastern region," she stated
Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has been campaigning for votes in the Eastern region since last week.
He started by embarking on a health walk in the Akuapem North constituency before moving to the Krobo enclave.
