Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo says the judiciary is vigorously pursuing the digitization of its operations to address and ultimately end the widespread issue of land litigation across the country.
She said a committee of experts, including judges and surveyors, has been formed to develop strategies to combat the problem of land guards, which has led to violent and sometimes deadly conflicts over land ownership.
She emphasised that this committee is not only focusing on creating a comprehensive database but also on finding effective solutions to land litigation issues.
“…And all the different ways in which we can ease the pressure in land litigation, and so it is going to be a major move, and maybe when we are launching it, you will get more details.
Speaking to the judicial press corps at the court complex, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo stated that the judicial service chose this approach to allow experts to present their insights directly, ensuring that the efforts are not solely attributed to the Chief Justice.
She emphasised that the leaders involved are strong and capable in their own right.
The Chief Justice also assured that very soon, Ghanaians will no longer feel traumatized when seeking justice in court.
“This is really my heart that when somebody has a problem; they would find it easy to approach the court and get justice because that is what access to justice means: the ability to easily come to court and get justice.”
