Government is aiming at commissioning five of the Multi-purpose Youth Resource Centers in the coming months as work is set to resume at these project sites.
Construction works had stalled at over five centers due to financial challenges.
However, the Chief Executive Office of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide, has revealed that the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has urged him to ensure work resumes at these centers, with the necessary funds to be made available.
“The Minister's instructions were that we should expedite action and ensure the prompt completion of five out of the six facilities. Along the line, the governing board added one,” Hadzide told reporters.
“So, as we speak, six of the youth resource centers are very advanced. One having been commissioned is now in use. From today's meeting, we are hopeful that in the coming days, work will resume on all of the other five.
“And we are hopeful that within the coming months, we should commission the five other projects and then we can put them to use.”
