President Akufo-Addo caused a brief stir at the launch of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) on Wednesday.
The initiative, which is expected to begin in earnest, is primarily funded by the District Assembly Common Fund. It aims to repair and smoothen deplorable roads across the country.
Addressing dignitaries during the launch, President Akufo-Addo stated that the intervention is proof of his administration's commitment to improving road infrastructure in Ghana.
However, his speech took a political turn when he began to make political comparisons.
The President sought to demonstrate how, in his view, the NPP administration had surpassed the opposition in the number of kilometers of roads constructed as against the erstwhile Mahama era.
It is at this point that he mistakenly roped in former President John Mahama into his team.
This caused a short uproar after which he retracted.
