Danny List Foundation - an international NGO based in Ghana with a special focus on the promotion and scouting of talents in young golfers has presented an unspecified amount to Ghana’s sensational young golfer, Julienne Afi Amezado towards her preparation to participate in The Grove Junior Open on August 14 in London.
The presentation was done by the Chairperson of the foundation, Madam Angela List at the foundation’s office in Accra.
The gesture, which is meant to take care of the young golfer’s preparation including training and personal needs officially marks the beginning of a partnership between Julienne Afi Amezado and the foundation.
Presenting the dummy cheque, Madam List praised Julienne Amezado for her outstanding performance which helped her to participate in the tournament.
In addition, Julienne Afi Amezado received branded souvenirs from the foundation.
Madam List said the foundation is committed to the development of young golfers in Ghana and across the West African sub-region, adding that the main aim of the Foundation is to develop talents in junior golfers and that supporting her to participate in an international golf tournament is in the right direction.
The foundation, which is owned by Ghana’s international golfer, Danny List since its inception a few years back has been organizing golf tournaments including training programmes.
The latest one was when the foundation organized a golf orientation workshop for 60 junior golfers at the Achimota Golf Pitch at Achimota in Accra in April this year.
A visibly elated Julienne Afi Amezado expressed her profound appreciation to the management of the Danny List Foundation for the support, urging Ghanaians to support her in bringing the trophy home.
In the UK, Junior Opens are a key component in handing young golfers the opportunity to play on golf courses across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Golf Clubs host these events to give players of all ages and standards the chance to play Open Championship venues, other top courses, some lesser-known locations, plus the occasional ‘hidden gem’. Boys and girls can test their skills on links, parkland, woodland, heathland and other types of courses, as they play 36, 18, nine holes or perhaps just short holes.
Some great prizes and trophies can be claimed. At age 11, Julienne Afi Amezado discovered her passion for the sport. Introduced to golf through the Fafali Organization's Golf & Goal Programme which began during the times of the Covid-19 pandemic, she quickly realized her innate talent and found solace on the greens.
Despite the challenges posed by her background, she persisted with unwavering determination, honing her skills and relentlessly pursuing her dreams.
Her hard work paid off as she began to dominate young female golf championships in Ghana.
Her exceptional performance and unchanged focus caught the attention of the golfing community, earning her the coveted prize of membership into the prestigious Achimota Golf Club.
