The Center for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) of the Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ghanaian Tech Firm, Bountiful Technologies Co. Ltd. to collaborate on enhancing EdTech education in the country.
The partnership focuses on four key objectives, namely, Capacity Building in STEM, Robotics, AI, Computer Science, and Reading Literacy.
It is aimed at transforming STEM and literacy education across Ghana.
The first objective of the MoU emphasizes capacity building for teachers and students in critical areas such as STEM, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and reading literacy through the Science of Reading initiative using Reading Horizons.
Bountiful Technologies will implement comprehensive training programmes designed to equip educators with the necessary skills to effectively teach these subjects, while also inspiring students to engage more deeply with STEM and technology.
The second objective focuses on the creation of high-quality digital content tailored for both online and in-person training. Bountiful Technologies aims to develop engaging STEM learning materials that will not only enhance the educational experience but also promote STEM publicity across various platforms. This initiative will ensure that students have access to interactive resources that stimulate their interest and understanding of complex subjects.
By utilizing cutting-edge technology, the collaboration seeks to make STEM education more accessible to students across Ghana, regardless of their geographical location. This approach will help bridge the educational gap and foster a culture of innovation and creativity among young learners.
To support effective learning outcomes, the partnership will also focus on providing innovative assessment tools and learning platforms. These resources will enable educators to track student progress and adapt their teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs. The goal is to create a more personalized educational environment that caters to diverse learning styles and paces.
Executive Director of CENDLOS, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour and Co-founder of Bountiful Technologies, Seth Ogoe Ayim signed for their respective organisations.
Mr Ayim highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, "Robotics and AI are not just about building machines; but about empowering minds to innovate, problem-solve, and shape a future where technology serves humanity with wisdom and compassion."
For the CENDLOS boss, the possibilities offered by the agreement in shaping a brighter future for the country’s youth is exciting. "This partnership is a testament to the commitment of both parties to create a brighter future for students and educators alike," said Nana Gyamfi Adwabour.
The implementation of these assessment tools is expected to enhance the overall quality of education, allowing teachers to identify areas where students may require additional support and ensuring that all learners can achieve their full potential.
The MoU outlines the development of a comprehensive STEM and ICT curriculum based on the VEX curriculum framework. This curriculum will emphasize hands-on learning and real-world applications, preparing students for future careers in technology and engineering. By adopting the VEX curriculum, Bountiful Technologies and CENDLOS aim to create a curriculum that not only covers theoretical knowledge but also fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills through practical engagement.
To ensure the sustainability and success of this collaboration, CENDLOS has pledged resources and funding from the government, donors, partners, and the Ministry of Education. These funds will be used to expand access to STEM education, particularly in underserved and rural communities. The partnership will also actively seek grant opportunities to further support its initiatives and reach a wider audience.
