The Rotaract Club of Accra Ring Road Central (RRC) has hosted a handing-over ceremony marking the leadership transition from Fafana Naeima Ali to Lawrence Bahun-Wilson.
The theme for this Rotary year, "The Magic of Rotary," set the background for an enchanting and memorable evening.
The event attracted a distinguished audience, including Past District Governor for Rotary District 9102, Victor Yaw Asante, who is also the Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana.
The staff of FirstBank Ghana showed up in large numbers to support Lawrence, their colleague, underscoring their strong support for his new role.
The ceremony was attended by several Rotarians and Rotractors such as Albert Bahun-Wilson, the President of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, Immediate Past District Rotaract Representative Dennis James Kojo Amakye, Assistant District Rotaract Representatives Eyram Fometu and Patience Lila Dibabe, along with members from various Rotary ad Rotaract clubs.
Speaking at the event, Mr Victor Yaw Asante, Past District Governor for Rotary District 9102, who is also the First Bank Ghana MD/CEO commended the Rotaract Club of Accra Ring Road Central’s dedication to service.
He reminded the new president of the essence of maintaining the high standards set by his predecessors. The evening exuded elegance and grace, showcasing the unity and commitment to service within the Rotary family.
In his acceptance speech, Rotractor Lawrence expressed deep gratitude for outgoing President, Fafana's exceptional leadership and vowed to continue her legacy of excellence.
He highlighted the significance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the club's goals for the year while pledging to uphold these values and ensure the club's continued growth and success.
Rotractor Lawrence emphasized that "this year is set to be nothing short of magical. We have plans, and I assure you that we will not falter. Collaboration will be crucial, as we aim to forge strong partnerships with Rotaract and Rotary clubs both locally and globally. Our plans align closely with Rotary’s areas of focus, being sustainable and impactful projects. This year, we will focus on education, health, and community development projects that will leave a lasting impact. Together, we can achieve great things."
The evening also featured a lively auction to raise funds to finance some projects. Members and guests enthusiastically participated, bidding on various items to raise funds for the club’s imminent projects which include a health and breast cancer screening and projects to promote sustainable menstrual hygiene practices in the Volta terrain.
The auction not only raised significant funds but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and community spirit among attendees.
The evening concluded with a sense of optimism and excitement for the future, as members and guests mingled and shared their hopes for the coming year.
