Some school children from the hometown of the late President of Ghana Prof John Evans Atta Mills, on Tuesday, July 23, laid a wreath on the tomb of the late statesman.
The children were from Otuam Pentecost Child and Youth Development Centre in the Mfantseman Cluster of Compassion International Ghana cluster of schools.
The visit was part of their annual educational tour.
The trip coincided with the commemoration of 12 years of his passing.
The children were received by Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder of the Attah Mills Institute who was the Spokesperson for the late president.
After briefing them Mr Anyidaho took them around the park and explained the stories behind some of Prof. Mills' photos on display.
He commended the children for making that bold decision to remember their beloved grandfather.
He advised them to embrace the president’s legacy for the next generation. According to Mr Anyidoho, he was at the park when the children came in and he decided to engage them.
In a sombre mood, the children sang and prayed for the soul of their late leader.
The Director of the Otuam Pentecost Child and Youth Development Centre Collins Joe Annan appealed to the government to relocate the remains to Prof. Mills’ hometown, Ekumfi Otuam.
The children had earlier on visited Parliament to observe the presentation of the Mid-year budget review by the Minister of Finance Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.
From Parliament, they visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and the National Theatre.
