Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam says there has been a consistent reduction in irregularities reported by the Auditor-General since the year 2020.
Speaking during the Mid-year budget review on Tuesday, July 23, he said that irregularities have decreased by 32 percent between 2022 and 2023.
This reduction, he added, has resulted in savings of approximately 5.2 billion cedis for the country.
"Mr. Speaker, there has been a consistent reduction in irregularities reported by the Auditor-General since 2020," the Minister said.
Dr. Amin Adam attributed this achievement to the effective implementation of policies, guidelines, and Public Financial Management (PFM) measures by the Ministry of Finance.
He emphasised that these efforts have led to about 99.26% of all irregularities identified in 2023 by the Auditor-General being recoverable.
The Minister added that the Finance Ministry is collaborating with the Internal Audit Agency, Internal Audit Units, and Audit Committees to ensure the recovery of these amounts.
