The Municipal Chief Executive of Asokwa, Akwanuasah Gyimah, has expressed worry over the winning of sand under the electric pylons in the municipality.
He says if the pylons should fall as a result of the unbridled activities, the entire Kumasi could be plunged into darkness.
"We took action against Nana Boamah because his actions can cause a big disaster including dumsor. We cannot sit down and watch him put the entire Kumasi and Ashanti region in a blackout," he told Nhyira Fm.
The chief of Nahinso, Nana Addo Boamah is accused of winning sand under major pylons which he intends to use in the repair of the community's major road and prevent flooding in the area.
According to Nana Boamah, he has been calling on the assembly but no action has been taken so far, prompting him to undertake the community projects project with his own resources.
But the Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive refuted these allegations, emphasizing that the road has been awarded on contract.
He also claims there has been no flooding in the area, stating that the space the chief is filling with sand is a pathway for the Oda River.
"We gave no approval to the chief to do what he is doing; we have already given the road to a contractor and the place he is filling with sand is a river pathway," he said.
