The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant John Mahama to prioritise improving the living conditions of Ghanaians if he becomes president.
Kwesi Pratt Jr said the former president should concentrate on that rather than on prosecuting appointees of the Akufo-Addo government.
“In any case, what the people of Ghana deserve most is for their new government to work assiduously to improve their access to health, education, nutrition, and transportation. That is what we need.

"What is the point of packing people to jail when we are not able to meet the needs of the people? The most important assignment of the incoming administration must be to make life more bearable for our people.
"That is the hallmark and how the new administration will be judged,” he said at the 12th Anniversary lecture of Prof John Evans Atta Mills.
Mr Pratt highlighted that Mahama would face challenges from the judiciary and other public institutions that could hinder the prosecution process.
“Perhaps it is useful to warn the incoming Mahama administration that it will not find it easy to prosecute wrongdoers under the Akufo-Addo administration. It is not going to be an easy task and it is not going to happen.

"There will be the judiciary to contend with and other factors and institutions which will impede that effort,” he said.
Mr Pratt was speaking as the guest speaker at the 12th anniversary of the Atta Mills Memorial lecture held at the University of Ghana on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The event saw notable figures, including the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, former President John Dramani Mahama, former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and other dignitaries.
