The Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has asserted that the Akufo-Addo government has constructed more roads than any previous administration in Ghana's history.
According to Mr Asenso-Boakye, also the Member of Parliament for Bantama, President Akufo-Addo has significantly expanded the country’s road network.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, July 18, Asenso-Boakye claimed that the Akufo-Addo administration has constructed three times more roads than the previous Mahama administration.

He provided data to support his claim, stating that while the Mahama administration constructed a total of 4,636 kilometres of roads, the Akufo-Addo administration has built 12,800 kilometres.
Mr Asenso-Boakye emphasised that these achievements reflect the substantial investments made by the current government in improving the country's infrastructure.
He believes the Akufo-Addo government deserves commendation for its significant contributions to Ghana’s road network.
"This government has invested in road construction more than any other government and has upgraded the road network substantially. In fact, three times more than the previous administration. It is on record that between 2009 and 2016, 4,636 kilometers of road was added to the road network but since 2017 to date, 12,800 kilometers of road has been added to the road network," he said.
Recently, President Akufo-Addo announced that his government has constructed more roads than the combined efforts of the Mills/Mahama administrations.
This declaration was made during the sod-cutting ceremony for the dualisation of the Anwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben Road on July 15.
Addressing a gathering of local officials, residents, and stakeholders, President Akufo-Addo detailed what he described as extensive improvements to the nation’s road network since 2017.
He cited a total of 12,830 kilometres of roads completed under his leadership, underscoring the significant progress made in expanding and enhancing Ghana's infrastructure.
“This development is unparalleled in the history of Ghana, reflecting a level of commitment and efficiency in addressing our infrastructure needs that have not been seen before,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
