Gideon Boako, spokesperson for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has criticized the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and now an adviser to Mr Alan Kyerematen, Nana Ohene Ntow, for his remarks about Bawumia's late father.
Mr Ohene Ntow, speaking on Peace FM's morning show on Monday, July 15, referred to Bawumia's late father as a gossip during a public discussion, sparking backlash from various quarters.
In a strong response, Dr. Boako, who was also on the program, condemned Ohene Ntow’s comments as disrespectful and unfounded.
He emphasized that Dr Bawumia's father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, was a respected statesman who contributed significantly to Ghana's political landscape.
Dr. Boako insisted that such disparaging remarks about a deceased elder statesman are not only inappropriate but also unbecoming of a senior party member.
Boako further stated that Ohene Ntow's comments do not reflect the values and principles of the NPP, a party that prides itself on respect for individuals and their contributions to the nation's development.
He urged Mr Ohene Ntow to refrain from personal attacks and focus on constructive discussions that will advance the country's democratic agenda.
In conclusion, Boako reiterated the importance of upholding the dignity and legacy of past leaders who have sacrificed for the progress of the nation.
"Where is the evidence? It's just hearsay, and with your experience in politics, I don't expect you to be saying something like this. You're peddling falsehoods about the vice president's father, and it is totally unnecessary and uncalled for. I urge you to stop making them."
"Until you have any evidence, you shouldn’t be peddling some of these comments. This is the job of amateurs in politics and not someone as experienced as you are," he said.
