Mfantsipim School, Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School, Adisadel College, and 11 other schools are set to compete for a coveted spot in the semifinals as the Central Regional qualifiers of the 2024 National Public Speaking Competition (NPSC) kick off.
The Central Region has always been a strong contender in the NPSC, known for its high standards in education and extracurricular activities. This year's competition promises to be no different, with students from these schools showcasing their oratory skills, critical thinking, and confidence in public speaking.
There will be three sets of contests, with the winners booking their qualification for the next stage of the competition.
The first contest will have Adisadel College take on Assin State College, Brakwa SHS, Mankessim SHS, and Swedru SHS.
Mfantsipim School will also be in action in the second regional contest, taking on Academy of Christ the King, Breman Asikuma SHS, Nyankomase Ahenkro SHS, and University Practice SHS.
The all-girls school, Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS, will be looking to make it past the regionals when it faces Bisease SHS, Odoben SHS, and St. Gregory Catholic SHS in the third contest.
The 2024 National Public Speaking Competition seeks to develop a new crop of leaders who will champion diplomacy to tackle societal issues.
It also aims at exploring innovative strategies, best practices, and actionable recommendations aimed at nurturing an environment conducive to peaceful, credible, and inclusive electoral processes.
By examining the interplay between historical legacies, socio-political dynamics, and contemporary challenges, the fifth edition of the National Public Speaking Competition under the theme “Building Bridges of Trust Towards Peaceful Elections in Ghana.”
