The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) fire and safety soccer team and the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) emerged the biggest winners at the 3rd Edition of the LCB Corporate Games for the Tema and Accra zones.
The Corporate Games, organised by crisis management solutions company, LCB Worldwide Ghana, is aimed at enhancing solidarity among key stakeholders in the business community.
The GPHA fire and safety soccer team defeated the Ghana Dock Labour Company team 1-0 in the final to lift the trophy for the Tema Zones while GUTA beat the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in the Accra Zone tournament to lift the trophy at stake in the 3rd Edition of the LCB Corporate Games .
Both GPHA fire team and GUTA received a trophy and a cash prize of GH¢10,000 each. The second-placed teams in both the Tema and Accra Zones received a cash prize of GH¢5,000 each, while Wilmar and Manna FC, who placed third in the Tema and Accra zones respectively, received a cash prize of GH¢3,000 each.
The top scorer and best goalkeeper also received cash prizes.
The GPHA Fire and Safety team went unbeaten in the competition, lifting the trophy after a first-half strike against their GDLC opponents.
Sixteen corporate organisations participated in this year's LCB Corporate Games, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority's fire department, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, Ghana Union of Traders Association, Wilmar Africa, and McDan Group.
Addressing the media, Philomena Ocloo, Supervisor of Operations at LCB Worldwide Ghana, commended all the teams for participating in the tournament and complying with the rules set out.
An Operations Officer at LCB Worldwide Ghana, Felix Segbaya said that the tournament fulfilled the Country Manager's passion and commitment to sporting activities in the country.
"Although our CEO is passionate about soccer, at LCB, we believe sports create an avenue for companies to come together. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibilities, this is a way of giving back to the businesses we are actively engaged with," he said.
He said there are plans to make the next editions of the LCB Corporate Games bigger and more fun.
