The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for North Tongu, Dr. John Eleblu has indicated that the incumbent member of parliament for the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is sloppy on the development of the constituency.

According to him, Mr. Ablakwa has become more of a “citizen vigilant on social media” than getting to work on the ground and improving the living standards of his constituents.

He made this known in an interview with Joy News on the sideline of the press launch of the Tongu Chiefs Union in Juapong in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region.

He stressed that the constituency has not had any significant development within the last 12 years, only to be identified as one of the poorest in Ghana by the Ghana Statistical Service in its latest survey.

Dr. Eleblu asserted that the lack of investment and decline in economic growth has led to high rates of unemployment and impeded the livelihoods of constituents, leading to desperation among the youth.

“Three terms in parliament, what can he show for it? Look at the unemployed youth, look at the mud houses, the roofing sheets. Which investment have you seen here? Which business can you point to? Which wealth has he created?”, he quizzed.

He, therefore, entreated the youth in the area to elect him as the next MP for the progress and development of the North Tongu Constituency.

“The youth must wake up. If you don't vote for Eleblu you will remain where you are”, he stressed.

He said that people of the Volta Region have identified that politics is about unity and development and hence aligning themselves with the NPP.

“We are going to the battleground, and he is going to lose the elections. That is all I have to say, because if you see the trend, people of the Volta Region are waking up to the fact that politics is about two things, unity and development.

You need unity before development can come, so unity is the driving force. So, they [people of the Volta Region] have seen that he [Okudzeto Ablakwa] is taking them for granted. He is going to be retired in January”, he stressed.
