Unidentified individuals have set fire to the house of a fetish priest accused of shooting three people dead Barniekrom, located in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 2, when the fetish priest, Osman Majeed, allegedly shot and killed three individuals whom he accused of attacking him.
Following the incident, Majeed went into hiding and remains at large.
In what appears to be a reprisal attack, unknown assailants set Majeed's house ablaze.
The assemblyman for the Barniekrom electoral area, Kingsley Asare, confirmed the incident to the media and reported that although calm has been restored, there are calls for continued police patrols to maintain order in the area.
Mr Asare emphasised the importance of a police presence to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of the residents.
The community remains tense, and authorities are urging cooperation to apprehend the suspect and bring stability.
“The chief informed me that information reaching him indicates that the residence of Komfo Osman has been burnt. That was yesterday in the morning. So I did organise my unit committee members to go to the place to confirm the incident."
“So upon getting there, we saw one of the buildings belonging to Osman burnt. Yes, we have officially reported the incident to the police. Though the community has returned to normal, I still believe the security services will continue monitoring the situation at Barniekrom," he stated.
