Ghana youth international, Aaron Essel, has expressed his desire to develop into a key player for Scottish side St Johnson following his transfer from Bechem United.
The 18-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Premiership side on Monday, July 8, after passing a trial.
The 18-year-old believes the move is a big step in the advancement of his career, and is eager to impress during his time in Scotland's top flight.
Speaking to Saint TV, Essel expressed his pride and elation in regards to the move and his intention to make an impact at the Perth-based side.
“I am so happy to sign here. It is a great step for me in my career and to develop," he said.
"I am very proud and getting the chance to be here is a blessing. I want to show my qualities on the field - my tackles, my passing. I just want to develop to become a key player of the club."
He also conveyed his appreciation of the club's personnel and the welcoming atmosphere they bring, as well as the assimilation with his new surroundings away from home.
"The staff, players and manager have been amazing. The people here have been so amazing in welcoming me. I love it and I am looking to do my best," he added.
"I love the city and I am just trying to do my best to know more about it."
St. Johnstone manager Craig Levein expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the Ghana youth international, citing his versatility in the club's trial match against Arbroath.
"Aaron is a young lad who has potential and he has a lot of the required skillsets to be a good player. He trained with us for about 10 days towards the end of last season and did really well."
“As we saw on Saturday against Arbroath, he can play in centre midfield. But he can also play full-back and at centre-back. We will see what time brings but he has impressed with his all-round ability."
