The National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana-B, has announced that the party's flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has formally informed the party's national officers about his running mate choice in the person of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
In a Facebook post on Monday, July 1, Nana-B stated that Dr Bawumia officially informed the party leadership on July 1.
According to him, the meeting took place at the NPP's headquarters in Asylum Down Accra, following an earlier presentation of Dr Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus in Parliament.
The nomination is now awaiting the decision of the National Council, which is the final approving body of the NPP.
"Dr Bawumia has today, 1st July, 2024, formally informed National Officers of the NPP of his nomination of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as his running mate in the upcoming 2024 General Elections."
"The meeting which occurred at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down follows an earlier presentation of Dr Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus of Parliament," he posted.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the National Council is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, where Dr Bawumia is expected to officially announce his choice to them.
