St. John's School has won the GOIL PLC Western Zonal Championship. They defeated Archbishop Potter Girls and Shama Senior High School to lift the trophy.
St. John's progressed to the grand finale after winning against Adiembra and Fiaseman SHS in the semi-finals with 41 points.
The 2022 champions Shama secured the first slot to the finals after winning against St. Joseph's and St. Mary's Boys SHS, and defending champions, Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) by 37 points.
Archbishop Potter Girls faced the toughest competition after qualifying with a slim 2-point margin of 26 points against Amenfiman SHS with 24 points and Sefwi Wiawso SHS with 19 points.
Shama SHS took the lead at the end of the first round, leaving St. John's and Archbishop Potter Girls behind with 11 points each.
By the end of the second round, St. John's emerged top of the group with 17 points and went on to solidify their lead with 27 points at the end of the third round.
They went on to answer two riddles in the final round on the third clue to gain 6 more points to win the title.
In the end, 33 points were just enough for them to lift the trophy ahead of Archbishop Potter Girls' 26 points, and Shama SHS's 23 points.
They hope to prove a point at the national competition in the coming weeks. Until then, they hold the bragging rights as the new champions of the GOIL PLC Western Zonal Championship.
