Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has produced another work of art that does not just accentuate Ghana's culture, but particularly celebrates the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Okyeame's newly-released music video for his 'No Competition' song which features Kuami Eugene captures shots and scenes of the 25th Anniversary of Otumfuo.
The essence of this gesture is further reiterated at the end of the video with the inscription: "this video is dedicated to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. 25 years of excellent leadership."
According to the Rap Dactar, known for his unfettered knack for culture and heritage, Otumfuo’s relevance and contribution to national development and becoming an instrument for social cohesion over the period is worth commending.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei TuTu II on May 12, 2024 celebrated his 25th anniversary of ascending to the throne as Asantehene of Asanteman in grand style.
The ‘No Competition’ video highlights the rich Ghanaian culture, by displaying the chieftaincy institution.
It further highlights the variety of traditional garments, kente cloth, intricate adinkra symbols, exquisitely designed African prints, beads, accessories, among others.
The video also captures a villain in the person of comedian OB Amponsah, who serves as a destruction to activities. He is reined in on his obstinate behaviour after he is draped in kente cloth. According to Okyeame Kwame, this signifies how people misconduct themselves when they are not aware of their cultural identity. He noted that this tends to impact one’s beliefs, behaviour and lifestyle.
Kwame added that being aware of the social norms, mores, religions, languages, and dress codes of a given culture, helps one to know what to do and what not to do at a particular time.
He called on parents to instil in their children cultural identities to regulate their lifestyles.
Other personalities in the video include Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson, entertainment journalist Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, Nana Obokese Ampah I, Regent of Moree and Apagyahen of Asebu Traditional Area.
