A non-governmental organisation, Write for World, has kick-started its Centre for Vocation and Trade Project (CeVoTraP) aimed at eradicating poverty-induced social vices among young girls in deprived communities.

The project encompasses the training of single mothers, with deprived backgrounds in employable skills to economically empower them to enjoy self-sufficient lives.

The first phase would see several young females of the targeted group from the Guan District and some identified communities in the Volta Region trained in fashion design.

With funding from Plan International Ghana, a well-resourced centre has been established in Ho for the training.

The Southern Programme Influencing and Impact Area Manager of Plan International Ghana, Sulemana Gbana, commended Write for World for undertaking such an impactful initiative that would contribute to transforming the lives of the beneficiaries and their generations.

He advised Write for World to ensure that sustainable measures are put in place “so that the intended goal of the project is achieved”.

The Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, Yao Semode, entreated parents and guardians of the beneficiaries to encourage their children to take the program seriously “as it is one surest way of securing for themselves a better future”.

The Board Chairman of Write for World, Korsi Bodjah expressed gratitude to Plan International Ghana for their support and called for such positive partnerships in the future to extend the organization's projects to other communities.

Present to support the commissioning of the training Center were management and representatives of Write for World, the leadership of other youth-led and women-centred organisations; Smart Hub, WomenNow Ghana, CEO of VVIO Couture, Ho Municipal Director of National Youth Authority, representatives of the Ho Municipal Social Welfare Department, parents and guardians of the first batch of potential participants of the project.
