On May 31, 2024 dancehall artist Stonebwoy filed a lawsuit against the founder of 3Music Networks, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, seeking an apology and damages amounting to GH₵3 million for alleged defamatory tweets published by the entertainment critic on his X page.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards Artist of the Year alleged that Baba Sadiq acted maliciously and with the intent to defame him by disseminating false statements that caused harm to the his [Stonebwoy's] reputation.

Following the lawsuit, both parties have been speaking on media platforms, including social media, to prove their innocence.

Baba Sadiq, who spoke in an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, affirmed his stance on the incident as to whether he has regretted it or not.

According to him, “I don’t have regrets for anything; I just learn lessons. I don’t think there have been any interesting lessons for now, but obviously it’s still a process, and so it will get to a particular end before you look back at things and stuff like that.”

Similarly, the media mogul who has always been known for supporting Stonebwoy on several occasions, did not rally behind the musician during the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on June 1. Instead, Baba Sadiq campaigned for King Promise to win the Artist of the Year slot.

Unfortunately, King Promise lost the title to Stonebwoy. This, according to Baba Sadiq, made Stonebwoy get upset with him. But he sees nothing wrong with his decision, emphasising that he has no regrets ever supporting the ‘Terminator’ hit maker.

He said, “I have no regrets. I’ve always been big about young talents, and particularly because of the amplification of fanaticism today, usually young talents do not have people to stand up for them when they’re coming up against big-named talents that have fanatical amplifications.”

Additionally, the entertainment critic stated that he has always envisioned greatness in King Promise but felt that the musician would be ripped off the opportunity, making it seem the artist has not worked due to his level.

This made Baba Sadiq realise that there has to be a deliberate technique to help promote and push King Promise forward so as to ensure transparency and fairness in the industry.

“I had a very strong conviction, which was that I had seen a King Promise that worked hard within a particular year, but my guts always told me that the fanatical amplification would curve him and put him on the sidelines, and it would almost look like he didn’t work. So, there has to be a deliberate bus strategy to bring out the work other than that he wouldn’t get in,” he added.

Having being the first manager of King Promise, Baba Sadiq has always believed that the artist is capable of reaching higher heights.

He asserted that he is proud of the ‘Paris’ singer’s performance at the just-ended TGMAs, although most critics, including industry players, underrated the performance.
