US President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their two daughters arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Friday night and received by Ghana's President, John Evans Atta Mills.
Below is the sequence of events as the nation entered the final moments of the countdown.
8:30 Air Force One is within the airspace of Ghana.
9:10 Air Force One arrives on the tarmac.
9:16 President Mills, wife, Naadu Mills and all other dignitaries including Vice President John Dramani Mahama, Nana Akufo-Adoo, NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, 2008 presidential candidate of the Convention Peoples Party, Dr. Edward Mahama, People's National Convention 2008 presidential candidate also in the 2008 election take their positions to welcome the US President.
9:18 The Beast, Obama's official vehicle takes its position, awaiting the US President to descend.
9:20 President Mills dressed in a smock and with his wife by his side, walk closely to the staircase of Air Force One.
9:21 Obama in his neatly dressed suit, Michelle and two children descend the staircase, touch down, shares pleasantries with President Mills and other dignitaries.
