St. Mary's Senior High School, Chemu SHS, and Accra High School have secured three slots for the national stage of the National Science and Math Quiz 2024.
They are the first three schools to qualify from the Greater Accra Region after beating competition from seven other schools.
Chemu SHS secured the first slot in the first contest of the day, defeating PRESEC Osu and Teshie SHS with 46 points.
PRESEC Osu came second with 32 points, while Teshie SHS trailed with 14 points.
Before the start of the contest, PRESEC Osu had promised to "beat the two other schools by 20 solid points."
"This year, we have come and we are prepared. As for PRESEC-Legon and the rest, we don't fear them."
But after the competition, they conceded defeat by solemnly congratulating Chemu for a job well done.
"Oh, what I can say is that they have done well. I see their boys were ringing the bell and answering with confidence. I feel them. We'll go and prepare and come back later," he said.
The boys and girls who described themselves as "the Real Madrids of Tema" said they are going into the regional contest with "landslide victories" to lift the trophy. They described any contest with PRESEC, Legon as "a friendly match."
