President Akufo-Addo has showered praises on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for helping him to bring lasting peace to Dagbon, which led to the enskinment of a new Ya-Na.
According to the President, the development affirms Otumfuo's role as a pillar of peace.
On January 27, 2022, when the President received the Otumfuo commemorative gold coin, he said it was appropriate that the King was honoured with the minting of the commemorative gold coin.
“Otumfuo deserves the gold coin honour,“ the President stated.
Roadmap
The roadmap to the Dagbon peace, reconciliation and reunification was initiated by President Kufuor and completed during the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo
Peace initiatives
The commemorative gold coin was issued in recognition of Otumfuo’s lead role in restoring peace to Dagbon, as well as his other peace initiatives.
Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, led a strong delegation from the E ON 3 Group and its key partners to present the coin to the President.
Key partners
E ON 3 Group issued the gold coin in collaboration with some key partners made up of Manhyia Palace, KLG Group, Access Bank Plc, Gold Coast Refinery Limited, Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), GLICO General, and Coronation Insurance Company Limited.
Bawku crisis
Currently, Otumfuo is working to resolve the bloody Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
“I have been listening to all the parties as part of the process to get the matter resolved”, the Asantehene said as he works to calm down the guns in Bawku for peace to prevail.
Many Ghanaians are optimistic that the wisdom applied by the Asantehene to bring peace to Dagbon will manifest during the conflict resolution process at Bawku.
