The Chief Executive of the Business Africa Consulting Group (BAC Group), Dr Ernest Koranteng, has called for an increase in the number of sports festivals across the country.
Dr Koranteng’s remarks come in the lead-up to the highly anticipated All Star Festival which is powered by the BAC Group and set to take place in Tamale this June.
He emphasized the importance of sports festivals in fostering community spirit, encouraging youth participation in sports, and promoting local culture.
He also highlighted how the All Star Festival serves as a platform to unite people from different backgrounds, creating a sense of community and pride through football and display of culture and called for more of such event.
"There aren’t sports festivals now. Growing up as a journalist, there was the SESA which was a massive sports festival involving the security services," Dr Koranteng said on Metro TV.
"I don’t know the state of school sports at the Junior High and Senior High levels and even the GUSA games at the University level but we need sports festivals."
