The labour unions and management at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have issued a strong cautionary statement, firmly opposing any move to dismiss Chief Executive Officer, Professor Otchere Addai Mensah.
This resolute defence comes in response to allegations of financial misappropriation and procurement breaches raised by the hospital's former lawyer, Kwame Adofo, who held the position until December 31, 2023.
The hospital's staff and workers have pledged to stand in solidarity with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), vehemently denying the accusations levelled against him.
Speaking to JoyNews, the President of the KATH Doctors Association, Dr. Michael Leat, stated that “the lawyer has petitioned the President, and if you read through our statement very well, we said that the president we know would not just take any decision without really going into the details of what is happening in the hospital.
“He has all the tools or the means to do any investigation that he deems right, but like we said, we would resist any person who decides based on whatever motive that person has, to distract our development and then call for the dismissal of our Chief Executive”.
He noted that they are optimistic that President Akufo-Addo will make the right decision.
