The Afram Plain South District Security Council has stepped up patrols across the district following the murder of two unidentified men believed to be Fulani.
The bodies, which are yet to be buried, were discovered at a bush at Takoratwene in the Eastern region with their heads and other parts missing.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Evans Kyei Ntiri said in response to rising tensions, military and police officers have been deployed to the area. According to him, the police will investigate the matter.
“The police issued a statement yesterday night that they have deployed intelligence to the district who are going to join forces with the existing ones we already have,” he told JoyNews on May 31.
On May 30, the Ghana Police Service in a press release said it has intensified investigation into the murder of the two individuals.
The police said a specialised team including crime scene experts, homicide investigators, and undercover officers have been charged to investigate the matter.
The released signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi said they are confident the perpetrators will be found and prosecuted.
