Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has indicated that his office is considering requesting day-to-day hearings for the ongoing ambulance trial.

He believes this approach will help expedite the case and lead to a quicker resolution.

This development follows a petition by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the primary defendant, to the Chief Justice requesting that the remainder of the proceedings be televised.

This request comes in the wake of recent allegations of misconduct against Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

Mr Tuah-Yeboah mentioned that his office has no objection to the request for a live broadcast of the trial.

However, he emphasised that in order to ensure a swift trial, it might be necessary to complement the live broadcast with daily hearings.

“In fact, the AG had indicated at a different forum that when it comes to public interest matters or matters where the public has that kind of interest, it will be in the interest of justice that such proceedings are broadcast live on television and radio, so we don’t have any objection to the request but as I said, the Chief Justice has the final say.

“Not only the broadcast, we are also looking at day-to-day hearing so that we can get to the end of this matter as soon as possible. The broadcast, if possible, may have to go with day-to-day hearing so that we can get to the end of this matter.”

Meanwhille, lawyers for Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance case, have filed a court application seeking to have the charges against him dismissed or, alternatively, to have the proceedings stayed.

In his witness statement, Jakpa testified under oath that Attorney-General Godfred Dame had multiple interactions with him, during which Dame assured him of his innocence and guaranteed his acquittal.

Jakpa further alleged that Dame informed him that his inclusion in the prosecution was a tactic to conceal the true motive behind the trial.

“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that this honourable Court shall be moved by THADDEUS SORY ESQ., of MESSRS SORY @ LAW Counsel for and on behalf of the Third Accused/Applicant herein praying the Court for an order; i. striking out the charges and accordingly terminating the proceedings against the Third Accused/Applicant."
