In an era where global sustainability and efficient logistics are more crucial than ever, Obed Oppong Asamoah, a native of Ghana, is making significant strides in the diaspora, shining a spotlight on Ghana on the global stage through his outstanding contributions to the field of supply chain management.
Educated in Ghana with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Obed demonstrated early on a keen aptitude for complex logistical challenges.
His academic prowess earned him a prestigious scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, where he not only completed his Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management but was also recognized as a Business Leadership Fellow due to his impressive academic and professional accomplishments.
Obed's professional journey began at the Quality Control Company Limited of the Ghana Cocoa Board, where he served as the Senior Quality Control Officer and Head of the Quality Control Research Substation. Here, his leadership significantly improved quality monitoring and evaluation processes across districts and cocoa warehouses, reflecting his deep commitment to enhancing supply chain systems.
A notable highlight of his tenure was the instrumental role he played in successfully leading a team at the Research Substation of Ghana Cocoa Board to coordinate the maintenance and repair standards of cocoa grading equipment resulting in its ISO 17020 Quality Management System accreditation for their facility.
Not forgetting that Obed has also made a significant impact on agricultural development through his insightful research on the citrus supply and market in Ghana. His study, conducted in the Obuasi municipality, has garnered attention and was adopted by the Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and GIZ German Cooperation for implementing training programs for local farmers.
In the United States, Obed made a mark during the world sustainability week on the international stage, as a speaker at the United Nations headquarters in New York, after he had led a team of students to the semifinals in the Global Sustainability Supply Chain Student Competition in 2023. Competing against over 250 students from across the globe, his team proposed a novel solution to recycling challenges faced by China's Cainiao Smart Logistics Network, emphasizing efficiency and consumer engagement in environmental sustainability.
Obed Oppong-Asamoah, exhibiting his leadership prowess in global supply chain and logistics, also spearheaded a critical project for Steriliz LLC in Rochester, New York. The company, known for its advanced medical sterilization equipment, sought Obed's expertise to tackle market penetration challenges for its new CleanCheck Hand Wash Monitoring System.
