Four staff members of Somé Senior High School in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region have been remanded by the Circuit Court at Tokor.
This was when they appeared before the court on Monday, May 27, 2024.
The accused, including the Assistant Headmistress in charge of academics, the Bursar, the Matron, and the storekeeper, were arraigned for their alleged involvement in stealing food items meant for students.
The incident that led to the arrests occurred on Friday, May 24, when Ibrahim Ayuba, the Assembly Member representing the Logove Electoral Area intercepted the bursar and matron as they were departing the school premises.
Upon inspection, a stash of food items including tin tomatoes, and mackerel were discovered in a bag and the car’s trunk.
Following this initial arrest, two more individuals, that is the Assistant headmistress and a cook, were apprehended.
Subsequently, the Ghana Education Service (GES) interdicted the Bursar, Richard Ametorxe, the storekeeper; Alex Obuadi and the Matron; Yorm Dzikumu and has constituted a committee to investigate the matter within two weeks.
