Man loses life while intervening in a brawl at Akyem Dwaso

A tragic incident unfolded in Akyem Dwaso, Eastern Region, as 28-year-old ‘aboboyaa’ [Tricycle] rider, Yaw Amoako, lost his life while attempting to intervene in a conflict.

Accounts of the incident reveal that Mr Amoako was accompanied by his fiancée when he heard of the commotion outside.

Upon investigation, he discovered a familiar individual was under attack by a group. Mr Amoako intervened, using a belt in an attempt to halt the assault.

However, amidst the chaos, Nana Opoku, the alleged assailant, reportedly stabbed Mr Amoako three times, resulting in his tragic demise.

A Rainbow Radio reporter, Agya Dan recounted the sequence of events leading to the altercation on Nyankonton Mu Nsem.

The conflict stemmed from a prior encounter between Mr Opoku and a woman at a funeral in another town, leading to an altercation with her fiance.

Subsequently, at another event a week later, Mr Opoku encountered the woman's fiance again, sparking another altercation.

Mr Amoako intervened to defuse the situation but tragically fell victim to the violence, allegedly stabbed by Mr Opoku with assistance from another individual named Kwesi.

Following the incident, Mr Amoako's body was transported to the Kyebi Government Hospital Mortuary pending further investigation.

Currently, Mr Opoku is in custody facing trial, while Kwesi and other suspects involved in the altercation remain at large.
