The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has slammed the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for neglecting the health sector.
According to him, there is a lack of essential equipment in many hospitals across the country including the 37 Military Hospital.
During the NDC's "Moments of Truth series" on April 29, he stated that the 37 Military Hospital serves as a crucial facility for accident victims in Accra and its environs, but it is not sufficiently equipped to handle their needs.
“You go to the dialysis centre; they do not have basic supplies. Only last year, that centre had to be shut down for six months, leading to the avoidable death of 17 innocent Ghanaians because President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia said they could not afford GHS4 million to clear government indebtedness."
"Yet, you continue to see them abusing the public purse and stealing from the public purse like there is no tomorrow,” Sammy Gyamfi stated.
The NDC National Communication Officer alleged that the money was diverted into private pockets rather than being used for the intended purpose of benefiting Ghanaians.
“And Ghanaians, including some of our friends in the media, are quiet. Others have become numb to the multiplicity of corruption scandals we have witnessed under this government because it looks like the scandals will never end.
“But we cannot be quiet, nor can we become immune or numb to these serious corruption scandals because, yes, we would have an opportunity to make a change on December 7, 2024, but if we do not speak up, we would not have any Ghana after December 7, 2024, when the new NDC Mahama government takes over this country,” he said.
