The South African National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders Chairman, Benjamin Kofi Quashie says the appointment of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate of the NDC’s presidential candidate intimidates the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He noted that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is someone who is without blemish and a good compliment to former President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Accra FM on Saturday, Mr Quashie recounted that the following trajectory of the woman -the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, coupled with the awards she received for exploits in academia and also her role at the Ministry of Education - makes her a formidable personality for running mate.
“Prof is a good person and would bring in a lot of development to the country as the vice president who comes in with a lot of competence. This is the reason why she intimidates the NPP.
"When somebody intimidates them, they would run round and dig the person and raise all manner of accusations against the person,” he said.
Mr. Quashie further noted that from the inception of her nomination and the subsequent outdooring to electorates, "nobody in the NPP can pinpoint to one thing to conclude that there is a blemish on the woman.”
“They have nothing to say about her,” he was categorical.
Touching on her outdooring speech, Mr Quashie lauded the fearless and passionate composure of Prof Opoku-Agyemang.
