2023 African Games medalist Winnifred Ntumi has expressed frustration over the unpaid bonuses and claimed that officials don't even respond to her calls.
The Sports Ministry promised $3,000 for gold medalists, $2,000 for winning silver, and $1,000 for bronze medal winners at the continental event.
Ghana eventually amassed 69 medals at the event, which ended over a month ago, with Winnifred bagging one gold and two silvers, which amount to $7,000.
However, the Ministry has not fulfilled its promise to her or other medal winners.
'I've not received the money yet. [All the disciplines] have not heard from them up till now. Sometimes, when I call, they don't even pick up,' Winnifred told Happy FM.
'It is with the Minister (Mustapha Ussif), and we've not heard from him.
'It is very heartbreaking because this is the first time I've experienced this. In Rabat [2019 African Games], I got the money immediately after I finished the competition. We don't even need reasons, but let's hear from you.'
Ghana won 19 gold, 29 silver, and 21 bronze medals across 10 sporting disciplines.
The Ministry is yet to react to the growing impatience of the athletes.
