Education Minister urges graduates to embrace opportunities

Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, Minister of Education

The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has encouraged graduates to embrace the abundant opportunities available in the country.

According to him, it is important to leverage opportunities to contribute towards reshaping Ghana's trajectory towards development.

Speaking at the 16th Congregation of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) in Sunyani on the theme "Technical and professional skills training — solution to high rate of youth unemployment in Ghana”, Dr Adutwum stressed the significance of this generation being the driving force behind the nation's transformation, urging graduates to work diligently towards that goal.

"I believe the better days of Ghana are ahead of us and not behind us," he stated.

The Education Minister also expressed concern over the practice of politicians casting their opponents in a negative light during election campaigns.

“This is done so that if even I don't do anything, I will still look good in the eyes of the voters. This is the bane of our country"he noted.

Dr Adutwum emphasised the importance of politicians providing a clear vision for the country and their plans for positive change, rather than solely criticising their opponent's past actions.

He underscored that Ghana has faced several challenges, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as an example, and urged Ghanaians to acknowledge the country's achievements while working hard to improve the future.

He implored the graduates to stay focused and persevere in the face of adversity, encouraging them to use their education to build better lives for themselves, their families, and the nation as a whole.
