Nigerian musician Tems gave fans a special treat during her debut performance at Coachella on Sunday night, April 14.
She was joined on stage by her Afrobeat colleague Wizkid and Canadian singer Justin Bieber for their first-ever live rendition of their collaboration, 'Essence'.
Wizkid took the stage first to perform with Tems, followed by Justin Bieber, who shared a friendly hug with the 'Star Boy' during the performance.
For fans of 'Essence', which gained immense popularity during the pandemic, this unexpected performance was a delightful surprise.
It was an even bigger surprise for fans of Justin Bieber, as the 30-year-old singer has maintained a low profile since June 2022. This was after his revelation of being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused full paralysis on one side of his face.

However, on Sunday night at Coachella, he displayed no signs of illness during the performance.
Originally released in 2020 “Essence” was a true slow-burner, impacting Billboard’s charts nine months after its release.
Wizkid, Tems and Justine Beiber would reign over Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay in September 2021 with “Essence,” making history along the way. “Essence” also cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and would enter the top 10 (peaking at No. 9) — becoming the first Afrobeats song to do so.
