According to Mr Aboagye, Dr. Bawumia's position on the matter has remained steadfast and resolute, without wavering or ambiguity, and Ghanaians can rely on his unwavering opposition to LGBTQI+ activities.

Furthermore, Aboagye emphasized that should Dr. Bawumia assume the presidency in 2025, he will not entertain the legalisation or promotion of LGBTQI+ activities.
He made it clear that Dr. Bawumia's stance against such activities is unwavering and firmly rooted in his dedication to upholding the values and principles cherished by the Ghanaian people.
"The Vice President is saying that he is against LGBTQ as a vice president and because of his beliefs in the social values and cultural values of this country and his belief in his religion and also because of his knowledge that the majority of Ghanaians are based on social values and cultural beliefs do not support it."
"So his position is that it is a no-no for him as a person, as a Vice President and as a President come 2025."
Mr. Aboagye's comments come in the wake of the recent announcement by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regarding his opposition to LGBTQ+ activities in Ghana. Dr. Bawumia made his stance clear during his address to thousands of Muslims in Kumasi on Thursday, April 11, as they gathered for Eid prayers.
This marked Dr. Bawumia's inaugural public statement on the contentious issue, and he did not mince words in expressing his position. He unequivocally rejected LGBTQ+ practices, aligning his personal convictions with the teachings of Islam and the societal norms prevalent in Ghana.
In his address to the assembled Muslim community, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his firm opposition to LGBTQ+ activities, emphasising his alignment with the broader religious and societal values upheld in the country. His remarks underscored the significant role of cultural and religious beliefs in shaping public opinion on sensitive matters such as LGBTQ+ rights.
Dr. Bawumia's declaration signals a resolute stance against LGBTQ+ activities, resonating with the sentiments of many Ghanaians who adhere to traditional values and religious teachings.
His public proclamation adds momentum to the ongoing debate surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in the nation, highlighting the complex interplay between cultural, religious, and legal considerations.
