Newly elected President of the All Nigerian Community (ANC), Albert Asaolu, has stated that he will foster unity among Nigerians residing in Ghana.
According to Mr Asaolu, this will ensure that Nigerians feel at home and carry out their business without fear.
"My first line of action is to unite my people. Without unity, no nation can progress, and I acknowledge the lack of cohesion that has hindered us. By the Grace of God, I am committed to addressing this and believe we will achieve unity," he said.
He made this comment during his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, April 8.
The ANC president explained that he understood the challenges individuals living far from home endured, especially when they do not feel a sense of belonging hence he was committed to ensuring that the community was strengthened to enable members to accomplish their objectives.
He assured that he would lead a community of law-abiding foreigners.
On his part, Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Aliyu Usman Bakori, congratulated Mr Asaolu for winning the elections and urged him to govern with tolerance to foster a prosperous and enduring community.
“Leadership requires tolerance, sacrifice, and maturity. Find ways of harmonising the purpose of understanding,” he said.
