Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has urged Heads of Covered Entities to embrace expenditure reforms to bolster public service delivery in the country.
He made the call during a PFM sensitisation workshop held on April 4, 2024, for Chief Directors and Heads of Covered Entities.
Speaking at the high-level forum, Dr. Amin, underscored the pivotal role of PFM reforms in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the public sector.
"Our government is unwavering in its dedication to delivering high-quality public services to the citizens of Ghana," stated Dr. Amin Adam.
"Through comprehensive PFM reforms, we aim to streamline financial processes, optimize resource allocation, and ensure that every taxpayer's contribution translates into tangible benefits for society."
The Finance Minister highlighted the multifaceted approach adopted by the government to bolster PFM frameworks, including the clearance and prevention of arrears accumulation.
He explained that by prioritising fiscal discipline and prudent financial management, Ghana aims to foster an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth and development.
Dr. Amin emphasised the need for collaborative efforts among government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector to drive meaningful change.
"Enhancing public service delivery requires a concerted effort from all stakeholders," he remarked. "By leveraging the expertise and resources of diverse actors, we can catalyze positive transformations that benefit every Ghanaian”, he added.
The forum provided a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing on best practices in PFM governance, with participants hailing from various sectors of the economy. Through interactive discussions and workshops, attendees explored innovative strategies for optimising budgetary processes, strengthening expenditure management, and enforcing compliance with regulatory standards.
