Former Asante Kotoko player Wilberforce Mfum says the current crop of players at the club do not know their worth and should have been beaten by fans for their recent performances.
The Porcupine Warriors are without a win since beating Bibiani GoldStars on March 1, 2024. They are currently on a four-game losing streak in the Ghana Premier League, suffering defeats to Karela United, Accra Lions, Aduana FC and Nations FC.
In fact, Prosper Narteh Ogum's men have just one win in their last seven games across all competitions, a run that has left Mfum fuming.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Mfum expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's poor form in recent games adding that such results are unacceptable.
"The only advice I have for the players is that before wearing Kotoko’s jersey, they must be dedicated and have the team at heart, always play for the team with full commitment, and not with lazy attitude," he said.
"I think the players have never been beaten before, they should have been beaten by the fans after losing streak so they understand their worth.
"How can you be bought with a large sum of money and then given such a poor performance?" He quizzed.
Kotoko's four defeats in a row at the moment is their first in 14 years and have now dropped into the 9th position on the league table.
The Kumasi-based side will come up against Bechem United in their next league game on Saturday, April 6, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park as they look to get back to winning ways.
