Apostle Lilian Kumah, wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister, Dr John Kumah, says none of her children will serve the country if pronouncements surrounding the death of her husband are not investigated.
According to her, she was aware of her husband's illness, but if Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart claims her husband died of food poisoning, then justice must be served.
She told Accra-based Asaase Radio that "no child of my womb will serve the country. Because it is very disappointing. How can a guy who has dedicated his life to serve the nation, then someone in the name of journalism, cheap propaganda is speculating he has facts, why is the person still there?”
Mrs. Kumah stated that she would be grateful if Captain Smart provided evidence for his claims that her husband was poisoned.
Mrs. Kumah urged President Akufo-Addo to order a probe into the possible poisoning of her late husband, Dr John Kumah.
“I am using this media to talk to the president. I beg him. Captain Smart says he knows who killed my husband. So Captain Smart should help us find who killed my husband so the person will be arrested to face the law,” she said.
Mrs. Kumah revealed that she accompanied her late husband, Dr John Kumah, to Germany for medical treatment.
However, she was never informed that his illness was the result of poisoning.
“John Kumah was in pain but he never showed it. He did all what he had to do. And one motto he always used to say was that, 'we don’t do what is convenient, we do what we are commanded to do. We are not living out of convenience. We are doing what is necessary. It’s not about now, it’s about the future. It’s about impact, it’s about legacy'.
“I was never told he was poisoned. I have medical reports from both Germany and this country. No one has said anything about food poisoning. I know what killed my husband which wasn’t poison. What hasn’t killed my husband, I won’t say it did.”
“As far as I’m concerned. My husband was sick. I know the sickness. I won’t lie and that’s what I know killed him. So if anyone knows anything, I want to know,” she said.
