The Anfoega traditional area is to compile a register of all heads of families in the area and also issue identity cards to all its citizens to aid effective local governance and development.
These initiatives were expected to facilitate easier interaction between the traditional authorities and the citizenry for purposes of development planning and resource mobilization.
Togbe Tepre Hodo, the fourth, Paramount Chief of the traditional area announced the initiative at an Easter durbar held at Anfoega on Saturday under the theme, "Strengthening the basic unit of the family".
He was optimistic that the people of the area would co-operate towards the successful implementation of the initiatives to revive the self-help spirit of their predecessors.
Togbe Hodo said citizens from the area were expected to contribute annually towards the development of the area, adding that, adequate structures have been put in place to account for the funds collected and its usage under the programme.
Togbe Ganahene Akompi V, Krontihene of the area in a welcoming address said, the family remained the best basic unit for local administration and governance, "it is the family unit that builds the community", he emphasized.
Professor Gabriel Ameka, President of Dzadikumanenyo, a development oriented association in the area said the association was hopeful of the positive outcomes of the peoples efforts at developing Anfoega into a "wealthy and healthy community worth living in".
He said the Association had revived work on some abandoned projects initiated by the people, including streetlights and water supply, which among others required the support of the people to accomplish.
Professor Ameka said the association has embarked on the rehabilitation of a community centre in the area, which was built in 1954, and that the association was raising a hundred million cedis to complete the project by the end of the year.
The durbar also honoured 58 distinguished personalities from the area including Togbe Tepre Hodo the third, the first Chairman of the erstwhile Transvolta Togoland, for their meritorious work in the traditional area.
