President Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament today, Tuesday, February 27, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
As mandated by this constitutional provision, the President will address the nation through Parliament at the commencement of each session.
During his speech, President Akufo-Addo is expected to provide updates on various sectors, including security, governance, education, health, infrastructure, and the ongoing fight against corruption.
The SONA will also outline the government's primary policy objectives for the year and present strategies aimed at enhancing the current economic situation.
The announcement of the President's address was made earlier in February by the then Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in Parliament.
"Mr. Speaker in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution, the President will deliver to the house a message on the State of the Nation on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Honourable Members are entreated to avail themselves for the task ahead,” he said.
