Black Queens forward, Samira Suleman, has disclosed how some of her colleagues were forced to retire after the Sports Ministry failed to pay some bonuses owed the team back in 2016.
The Black Queens infamously resorted to a protest at the Ministry of Sports back in 2016, after being owed about $25,000 each in unpaid bonuses.
The bonuses were for their participation in multiple competitions, including the 2016 African Women's Cup of Nations, 2016 Rio Olympic qualifiers and the 2015 All-African Games, where the Queens won gold.
Reacting to a post on social media platform, X, recounting the incident, Suleman said, "This retired a lot of players."

The current Black Queens side are owed outstanding bonuses from their qualification games for both the African Women’s Cup of Nations and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Each player is owed a reported $7,500, even after their bonuses were slashed by 50%.
Suleman has not featured for the Black Queens since publicly criticizing the Ghana Football Association over their handling of the team, as compared to the Black Stars, back in 2018.
