Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Nsoatreman in the 2024 J.A Kufuor Cup of Sunday, February 18.
Steven Mukwala and youngster Peter Amidu scored in the second half of the game at the Baba Yara Stadium to ensure victory for the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko fell behind on the stroke of halftime as Abdul Rahman opened the scoring in Kumasi. His goal came after glaring chances had fallen to both teams in the early part of the game.
Nsoatreman let their guards down just 12 minutes after the recess as Mukwala broke their defensive resilience to get the equaliser for Kotoko.
Maxwell Konadu's men had the opportunity to restore their lead moments after they were awarded a penalty. However, Frederick Asare made a good save to keep the same level.
Shortly after missing the spot kick, Prosper Narteh Ogum had his side in the lead through Amidu.
The youngster received a pass from Richmond Lamptey and shot it first-time beating the Nsoatreman goalkeeper to make it 2-1 for Kotoko.
The result stayed as such with Kotoko going on to lift the trophy at the end of the game.
The game was organised by the J.A Kufuor Foundation as part of his 85th birthday celebration.
