Protesters at the ‘SaveGhanaFootball' demonstration in Accra on Wednesday have put some interesting placards on display.
The protesters are demanding drastic measures to be taken to salvage Ghana’s dying football industry.
The Black Stars exiting at the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is the third time in consecutive major tournaments that the team has failed to progress from the first round.
The Kurt Okraku-led Ghana Football Association is searching for a fifth Black Stars coach since coming into office five years ago.
The demonstration started at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange and passed through Asylum Down, the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and attempted to present a petition to the Sports Ministry, but were denied access by the police.
The leaders of the demonstration then read their petition at the Independence Square to the media.
Among passionate calls for the Ghana Football Association to fix the mess in the country’s dying football industry are placards that had inscriptions such as, “stop spoiling our bets”, “we used be Brazilians of Africa, what happened?”
Adom News' Joseph Odotei was with the protesters and captured these photos.
