The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, says the dismissal of coaches is not the solution to the challenges of Ghana's football challenges.
The Speaker has called on stakeholders to draw up a comprehensive plan that will help find solutions to Ghana's struggling football situation.
The Black Stars crashed once again on the continental stage as they exited the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the group stage after just two points from three games.
Speaking in the first meeting of the fourth session of Parliament earlier on Tuesday, February 6, Bagbin said the sacking of coaches of the national football team, the Black Stars, will not deal with the issue of poor performance of the team.
"The Black Stars and their handlers must know that they represent more than just a football team. They are a symbol of our national pride, cohesion and resilience. They must therefore endeavour to rise from the ashes of these setbacks and demonstrate to the world the true power of Ghana’s football," he said.

"It is high time we huddle together to discuss the current state of Ghana’s football and consider a comprehensive strategy for the future.
"Sacking of coaches is not the panacea to the challenges. We must evaluate our football infrastructure, youth development programs, coaching standards and administrative structures to identify areas for improvement.
"Ghanaians must invest in wholistic and sustainable development for sports and culture. Parliament will appreciate an opportunity to work with other stakeholders towards this common goal."
After the elimination from the AFCON, the Ghana Football Association parted ways with head coach Chris Hughton with the search for his replacement already underway.
