When the Kumasi Traditional Council set free Bernard Antwi-Boasiako on allegations of disrespecting the Asantehene, many thought the case against the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been laid to rest.
But there was another huddle to overcome; the reversal of a curse invoked by Chairman Wontumi against his accuser, Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, in the heat of their verbal bout during and after the NPP’s parliamentary vetting in Kumasi.
When the two parties appeared before the Antoa Nyamaa Shrine, the Chief Priest would not reverse the curse, referring the case back to Manhyia for a resolution.
JoyNews enquiries point to a milky case of internal party politics tainted in a cultural backlash in a saga of truth and lies.
Sources say both parties went to the Antoa deity in anger and entrenched positions, under the guise of a settlement directed by Manhyia Palace. But their posture did not sit well in reversing the curse invoked, hence the redirection to Manhyia to settle their differences.
It is alleged that the Chief Priest at the shrine took the decision to avoid the shedding of blood, as the two defended their stance on a matter bordering on exaggeration and falsehood.
A date is yet to be set for the two to meet the traditional council due to ongoing activities to commemorate the Asantehene’s 25th anniversary.
But Chairman Wontumi and the Kokosohene are expected to take personal steps to settle their score before appearing to overturn the curse or ‘duabo’.
